How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching does not address deep-rooted psychological issues or mental illness. Instead, it focuses on increasing passion, creativity, and fulfillment by taking strategic steps to help you reach your life and career goals. It is a very positive and supportive process that includes a lot of open-ended questioning, self-reflection, encouragement, and accountability.
Psychotherapy is a form of treatment aimed at relieving emotional distress and mental health problems. It is provided by any of a variety of clinically-trained professionals. Therapy tends to be a longer-term commitment than coaching, but the two complement each other beautifully.
If both therapy and coaching are needed, then therapy should be pursued first.
How did you become The Creativity & MidLife Transformation Coach?
It’s the culmination of everything I’ve done in my creative career up to this point plus all of the personal growth, research and studying that I did to overcome my own creative blocks and to convert my midlife crisis into a much more positive and productive, midlife transformation.
I figured out the strategies that worked best for me and now I want to guide others through this life-defining experience. Because designing the life of your dreams is not only your most creative undertaking in this life, it’s the most important one too!
Who would benefit most from your coaching?
These women are seeking guidance, encouragement, and support and they aren’t afraid to put in the time and do the necessary work to design the life they want. My coaching programs were created with them in mind.
Why did you choose to focus on creative women in midlife over any other creative topic or period within a person’s life?
Many women in midlife have been coasting along in the rhythm of their life when all of a sudden one day they admit to themselves that something isn’t right.
They don’t feel as excited and energized about their life and future like they used to. Some would say that they are even down right bored. But because this common feeling is not often discussed, they tend to believe that “I’m the only one” and that “it’s just me and the way my crazy little brain works.” Or worst yet, they think “It’ll pass. It’s not that big of a deal.”
I’m here to tell you that how you feel about your life is a HUGE DEAL.
Every woman deserves to have a life filled with more passion, more creativity, and more purpose. And I find that creative women are hit the hardest during midlife, especially if they are not honoring their creative desires with a regular creative practice.
What can I expect when I hire you as a coach?
During that time, we focus on whatever you need help with at the moment. I will listen with the intent to understand, and ask probing questions to stretch your thinking. You should leave each session having felt heard, understood, encouraged, and with action steps to take immediately to bring you closer to your goals.
What is your coaching philosophy?
I believe in not only being your coach, but your accountability partner, personal cheerleader, and sounding board. Our coaching sessions are a safe place for you to open up, explore, and grow into the unique, talented individual that you are. You can do it, and I’m here to help.
How are your programs different from anything else on the market?
Everyone will go through this at some point as change is both inevitable and cyclical. As the saying goes, I have “been there and done that”, and have distilled what took me a decade to figure out into smaller month-long programs to help you make the second half of your life the best half of your life!
Which of your programs do you recommend clients take first?
Every client is unique, so no one answer is the same for all, which is one of the reasons why I require a Discovery Call prior to program enrollment. But in general, I find that most of my clients end up taking the Discovering Your Zone of Genius program first. It gives them a great foundation to build upon, boosts their self esteem, and energizes them to continue pushing outside of their comfort zone and growing. Almost all of my clients immediately enroll in the Overcoming Creative Fears & Doubts program after completion of the Discovering Your Zone of Genius program.
How can people register for one of your coaching programs?
What are you currently working on and can you give us a sneak peek of what we might expect from you in the future?
I am currently working on editing my first novel, The Elusive Muse, while simultaneously building my upcoming, all-inclusive signature coaching program, “From MidLife Crisis to MidLife Transformation: The Complete Reinvention & Reinvigoration Program.”
I also have identified several new program topics that I am very excited about, but they won’t be rolling out until later. To be the first to know about my new offerings, please email me at [email protected] and I will put you on the mailing list.
